BRADENTON, Fla. (February 18, 2008) – The third annual “Savor Sarasota" Restaurant Week kicks off May 27-June 8, 2008, culminating with the new “Forks & Corks" culinary festival as the grand finale. This 13-day dining event will showcase seven Manatee County chefs and eateries including Broken Egg, MacAllister’s and Polo Grill and Bar in Lakewood Ranch, Mattison’s Riverside in Bradenton, the Sun House Restaurant & Bar on Anna Maria Island and Euphemia Haye and Harry’s Continental Kitchen on Longboat Key.

The “Savor Sarasota" dining promotion encourages both visitors and locals alike to experience the area’s numerous and varied restaurants and to create more public awareness of the region’s award-winning restaurant scene. The event has become one of the most popular culinary events in the state over the past three years, as it encourages food and wine lovers to visit Sarasota and Manatee Counties to imbibe in the best of the region's restaurants.

Currently, more than 30 restaurants will be participating in the event during which patrons can enjoy multi-course meals at participating restaurants for $15 per person for lunch and $25 per person for dinner.

Michael Klauber, owner of Michael’s on East, is looking forward to another successful event again this year, especially as 2008 will play host to the first annual “Forks & Corks" Food and Wine Festival, sponsored by the Sarasota-Manatee Originals, of which Klauber is president.

“Forks & Corks" will be held June 5-8, 2008, and will offer interactive tastings and seminars, vintner dinners, cocktail competitions and a Grand Tasting with live music, entertainment, children’s activities and a charity auction. A portion of proceeds from the “Forks & Corks" event will benefit Meals On Wheels in Sarasota and Manatee counties.
